Degrees Of Comparison
- Definition Degrees of comparison is level comparison of an adjective or adverb in english grammer describing the relational value of a thing with something in another clause in a sentence.
- Meaning of the positive, comparative and superlatif degree
- Positive degree Positive degree is a comparison in which the word adjective not be altered and generally to describe an adjective of the same nature with other objects.
- Comparative degree Comparative degree is a comparison of something o the effect that more than others and usually plus (...er) on the back (lass than 2 syllable). While the words are more than 2 plus syllable (more).
- Superlative degree Superlative degree is a comparison of the states most or among others. If the adjective was than 2 syllable, we use the verb est behind. If it exceeds 2 adjective syllable or 2 syllables, than add most before the adjective it.
Example :
1. - katy is a clever as pery
– katy is no less clever as than pery
– katy is not more clever than pery
– my book is as expensive as your
– my horse is less valuable yhan yours
2. – my book is more expensive than yours
- This boy is more clever than that
- Lisa is taller than her sister
- Jakarta is bigger than Surabaya
- Minila is farther than Jakarta
3. – she is the tallest of all the girls
- The girl is cleverst of all
- Jakarta is the largest city in Indonesia
- He is the cleverest student in his class
